Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Title: Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix (12)

Year: 2007

Running Time: 138 minutes

Director: David Yates

Cast: Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron), Emma Watson (Hermione)

Notes: Won numerous awards including some for the whole series, nominated for two BAFTAs.

Rating: 9

Thoughts:   In year five Harry discovers that he is not alone against Voldemort as the Order of the Phoenix is introduced.

But no-one outside believes Voldemort is back and division allows those loyal to him to begin infiltrating Hogwarts.

Now the series, with yet another director, starts to really move towards being a darker action film. The main student characters are now older and it all feels a lot more dangerous.

At the same time there is an element of origin as we see the Order introduced. Some of them could do with more fleshing out and that is perhaps the main criticism, that action is pushed and character depth reduced.

It's a tough choice in such a long series and by now we have most of the characters as familiar companions.

It just unravels a little with there being a number of new, and significant, ones about who we then don't find out that much.

That doesn't stop it from being a powerful film that progresses the overall story arc very well.
