Title: Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (12)
Year: 2002
Running Time: 161 minutes
Director: Cris Columbus
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron), Emma Watson (Hermione)
Notes: Won numerous awards, including some for the whole series, nominated for three BAFTAs
Rating: 9
Thoughts: The story progresses with Harry's second year at Hogwarts.
Harry is warned about returning and begins to hear voices, as muggle born wizards are being attacked. There is a real progression to this film with most of the time now devoted to the story.
Most of the background work has been done by the first film, allowing the strong cast to take this up a notch. There's a maturity in the younger actors that wasn't there before and the CGI dobby character is seamless.
There's just more of everything, more tension, more threat and more action.
I always felt that Columbus had really improved things on this, his second Potter. It's a bit darker than the first and is just as enjoyable.
