Thoughts:   An evil wizard steals the black orb and is countered by warrior Berek and sorceress Melora, and a band of heroes.

The wizard wakes a sleeping dragon to fight for him. Hard to believe it's based on the RPG with that plot!

This is actually a sequel although set over a hundred years later. It is horribly cliched, with a tavern scene to gather them up and then a classic adventurer group that sees the d20s lined up alongside the popcorn.

It's then surprisingly tame for such an apocalyptic backdrop. There are some good dungeon scenes, and the fights are decent, but there is hardly any real threat to this.

It feels like a game being transferred to the screen rather than doing what a film needs to do on its own. That means they drop in loads of references and gaming terminology but at times forget about little things like cinematography.

In some ways, this ends up being quite good but on reflection is quite forced, with the game side of matters ending up being more important to the scriptwriters.

At least it's better than the first one.
