Thoughts: A Norwegian archaeologist forms a small team to find the meaning of some secret runes - and accidentally awakens a monster.
I have to say the sleeve made me think a very different movie was on the way - and there aren't any Vikings in this one!
The start is good as the lead character has to battle to get to go on a trip north. A little too soon this starts to feel like a scaled-down Jurassic Park but it is fortunately well-acted and looks great.
The monster that appears offers plenty of challenges and the characters mostly do sensible things. The acting is a real feature and they all interact superbly, adding loads to the realism in a clearly contrived plot.
The monster looks so good I have to wonder why there wasn't more and perhaps the ending is a little obvious. But overall this is a strong film, even if it wasn't what I was expecting.
