Title: Northmen (15)

Year: 2014

Running Time: 93 minutes

Director: Claudio Fah

Rating: 6

Thoughts:   A band of Vikings are stranded on the coast of Alba and have to travel on foot to safety, chased by the King's mercenaries.

This is shot quite nicely and has a believable air about it. The costumes are great and the fight scenes good to watch.

It's not an especially original plot, a stranded group crossing enemy lands to find safety, but it plays out well. There are maybe a few too many characters, in part to allow for a bit of a body count, and you don't ever feel that attached to any of them.

It's a lot better than many but ends up being a little forgettable. The characters do shine when they appear, the acting generally strong, but then they sort of disappear.

Unfortunately the good action overtakes the characterisation.
