Title: Dark Relic (15)

Year: 2010

Running Time: 83 minutes

Director: Lorenzo Sena Cast: James Frain (Sir Gregory), Clemency Burton-Hill (Rebecca), Tom Basden (Robert)

Notes: None

Rating: 2 Thoughts:   Having survived the First Crusade with just a handful of men, Sir Gregory and his band find a relic and decide to take it to Rome.

Their ship is wrecked and they save some Turkish warriors who join their ill-fated journey.

The story is good enough although the opening staging scenes do plod a little. It takes a good while to get to the heart of this.

Some of the action is then well depicted, but it is the character interaction that wrecks as badly as their ship. Clearly the actors have been given weak lines associated with cliched stereotypes, and then they are allowed to deliver them very badly.

But that's not the end of the wood. As they are regularly plagued by evil, some of its manifestations are hilarious. What's so odd is that some of them are done well.

It all ends up being a waste of a half-decent tale.
