Title: Robin Hood (12)
Year: 2010
Running Time: 140 minutes
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Russell Crowe (Robin), Cate Blanchett (Marion), Matthew Macfadyen (Sheriff Of Nottingham)
Notes: Won one award.
Rating: 7
Thoughts: Robin and his band tackle corruption in a village, leading an uprising against the crown.

With that Director and the main cast, it's no surprise that this has a really deep cast list.
There is no questioning the acting and the scenes are tightly controlled. But it's the story that maybe needs to be questioned.
Robin's band is shown as quite a dark troupe, and there is no real spark between Robin and Marion. Some characters that really have a strong real-life story lack anything much at all here - King John and Eleanor of Aquitaine for two.
Too often this is just a medieval romp, and too far from the familiarity of Robin Hood. Of course, they want to put a spin on it but that also includes playing with history with the main battle on the beach.
It's solid and reliable, but not especially exciting, and deviates from both the legend and history.
